I wish I was a million miles away
In another time and place
Among good people, the climate warm
Healthy, happy, whole.
I wish I could erase
Days and days and days
Recreate the past, tidy it up
Make it all work out.
A dream that often comes
Is a dream of calm and order
Where the lunacy dissolves
And the world makes sense again.
If everything should stop
If it all comes crashing down
When the dust settles, I'll be at peace
The great weight will be lifted.
I wish I was a million miles away
In another time and place
Where no one knew what a fool I was
And this child had a chance to be.
